Why I Collect

Collected by Design Essentials PNW is a reflection of the things I'm drawn to, the places I've been, and the details that stay with me.

I'm Wendy Burdett—designer, photographer, and founder of Design Essentials PNW. Through Collected, I share the objects I bring home, the photographs I capture, and the stories I want to remember.

I've always been drawn to things with character. An interesting texture, a beautifully worn surface, an unexpected detail, or the way light falls across an ordinary moment. Sometimes it's the history of an object. Other times, it's simply something that makes me stop and look a little closer.

Each piece is chosen for its material, texture, history, or quiet presence. From original photography and paper goods to vintage objects collected over time, everything is selected with intention and a belief that the things we live with should have meaning.

Created as an extension of my design practice, Collected celebrates thoughtful observation, lasting craftsmanship, and the beauty found in everyday details.

Some things I bring home. Others I capture. All of them become part of the story.
